John 14:19
What a wonderful promise this is from Jesus.
He can make this promise
because His words are always timeless
and He cannot be held in our human time zone.
These words were true
from the moment He spoke
them and they are true now 2000 years later
and will be true on into eternity.
He said “You abide in Me and I will abide in you,” and
“The one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out.”
The words “I live”
take us through the crucifixion, death,
resurrection and ascension
and His coming to us as Saviour and Lord.
So we see our lives as “Christ-ones” to be timeless.
We are told that we need to
“be in this world and not of it”.
Above all we do not simply just wait
for the promise of Eternal Life.
His living in us is related to our time
right now where we are,
but with the perspective of eternity.
Alfred Lord Tennyson wrote,
“Speak to Him, thou, for He hears
and spirit can meet-
Closer is He than breathing
and nearer that hands and feet.”
