God is My Salvation

12th April 2011

SEEDS FOR HARVESTING 6/12

Isaiah12:2
"Behold God is my salvation; I will not be afraid."

Fear is driving the world's forces today.
The Mediterranean is awash with fear.

We are also fearful because we cannot control
the forces of nature in our own back yard.
It can wash away all our worldly possessions,
and load us with fearful pain.
The Prophet Isaiah's answer is to
"Behold God" then "I will not be afraid."

But Isaiah is not saying
that God will protect us from all fear.
He is saying, because of "my Salvation"
there is another way through our fears.
We know that God does not
cause these natural, shattering events
even though the world is too quick to blame God for them.

God's way is to
equip us to weather these storms.
He is not busy helping us to save our worldly possessions.
He could do it, if He wanted to.
Instead He is showing us a way through
and equipping us to face life's storms and weather them.

We must not see life through the limitations
of our humanity
but in the immensity of God's creativity.

We should not be afraid
because it is God's "salvation" alone that can save us.
