SEEDS FOR HARVESTING 8-2

1 John 2:5
"Those who obey God's word
truly show how completely they love him."

These words are not a commandment-
they are a statement of fact.
This is 'God's word'
speaking to us.

We can go through
all the theological words,
repentance, forgiveness, justification, assurance
and so on,
but here is a simple condition
that God asks of us," obey God's word."
If we fulfil this one condition
then we truly show how
completely we 'love him.'

How do we 'obey God's word'?
By an openness and a willingness to be
guided by God's Spirit.

Jesus describes it as having
eyes opened, ears unstopped and a heart
that is willing to be receptive to God's truth.

This is not to do with
gaining knowledge,
but with having an openness of heart,
and being receptive to accept the truth
that comes from God.
