SEEDS FOR HARVESTING 5/11
Good Friday
The agony of the cross experienced by the human Jesus.
"I am thirsty."
One of the signs of Jesus humanity
would be His thirst, parched lips, swollen tongue.
"My God, my God, why have You forsaken Me"?
God had not forsaken Him.
But these words were wrung from Jesus as He accepted
the sins of the world. God and sin cannot co-exist.
"Father into Your hands I commit My spirit."
Shortly there would only be an empty tomb
After death He would still be a part of the Triune God.
Even in His agony Jesus reached out to those whom
"God so loved."
"Father forgive them
for they do not know what they are doing."
Through suffering He was able to forgive.
"I tell you the truth,
today you will be with Me in paradise."
Through the agony of the cross shines the glory of God.
"Woman behold your son."
"Behold your mother."
The tenderness and loving kindness of Jesus
is revealed through His suffering.
"O love of God, O sin of man
in this dread act your strength is tried;
and victory remains with love:
Jesus, our Lord, is crucified."
