John 13:1
"Having loved His own who were in the world
He loved them to the end."
These are words written by John the "beloved disciple."
They introduce us to Chapters 13-17
And what Jesus said to the disciples
in the Upper Room before His crucifixion.
they should be beacons of light for us in our confused world.
"Having loved His own"
fills our minds and hearts with joy.
Yes, we have offered our lives to Him, but first we are
"His own."
because He had made it so.
He said "You did not choose Me but I have chose you."
Its upon that sure foundation
that we can proceed with confidence.
"Who were(are) in the world."
He is right with us,
in the midst of our worldly turmoil.
He helps us to make sense of this turmoil.
He opens our eyes and un-stops our ears
so that we can see issues as He would see them.
He helps us to recognise needs,
even before they are spoken.
"He loved them (us)to the end."
Not only while we are "in the world"
but on into the Kingdom.
This is how far His love stretches.
From the crucifixion to the Kingdom.
"Come worship with me
and let us exalt His name together."
