1 John 1:7

“Anyone who does not love, does not know God,

for God is love.”

 

Of all the words we use to describe God

this word ‘love’ plumbs the depths

of what God is like. 

We do not discover it

through our thinking, reasoning

or reading a description of it in a book

but through how we feel in our hearts,

because “God is Love.”

God’s love describes His very nature.

 We can experience it

by loving God, then ourselves, then others. 

We must do this by loving in God’s way

and not our own. 

First we must know God

and commit our lives to him.

 Out of our commitment grows

our love for him,

and out of our love for him

grows our love for each other.

Our root for loving

must begin with God

for “God is Love”. 

 Perfect love comes only from God

and he willingly shares it with us.
