Pleasing to God

24th October 2009

John 8:29

“I always do the things that are pleasing to Him”.

Jesus spoke these words immediately after saying
“the one who sent Me is with Me now”

Jesus always had to exist in two time spheres
whilst He was here on earth.
He was continually conscious of existing in His Father presence
as He moved amongst we humans.
In the presence of the Father
these words would be irrelevant.

Is this word “always” a problem for us
when we try to apply them to our experiences of life?
Is it possible that at all times, in every place,
we will do those things that are pleasing to our Heavenly Father?
We must always remember that God does not
ask us to do impossible things.

The trouble with us is that
we seem to trap ourselves in our own humanity.
We always want to rally all of our human resources
to fulfill the “always” of God
whilst He is saying to us “trust Me”.

If our deepest desire is willingness
and a deep yearning to “always” please God
then we are well on the way to Godly fulfillment.
Let us never forget that we have
all the resources of Jesus’ commandments,
and the encouragement of the Holy Spirit to help us.

Perhaps because of our humanity we can now say
“I am always sincerely trying to please my Heavenly Father”.
