SEEDS FOR HARVESTING 7-37
John 11:37
"I have always believed that you are the Messiah,
the Son of God". (NLT)
Here are astonishing words
spoken by Martha the housekeeper.
Or that is the way we like to think of her.
We should not be surprised
that she used the title "Messiah",
for this would have come from her childhood.
She also called Jesus the "Son of God".
Here I like to think that the Holy Spirit was at work.
It was Martha who met Jesus on the path,
and had a long and meaningful conversation with him.
Mary followed, but all she could do was to criticise Jesus,
"If only you had been here".
We must be careful that we do not pre judge our fellow Christians
simply because of something they have said or done.
Mary sat at Jesus feet, but that was all she did.
Martha called him "the Son of God".
She made another profound statement,
"I know that whatever you ask of God, God will give you".
It is important that we have a treasure chest of sayings,
that we believe in with our whole, heart, mind, and strength.
These are barriers against the attack of Satan.
Martha's statement was from her heart
and she really believed it,
Jesus continually repeated these words
"Whatever you ask the father in my name,
he will give you".
