SEEDS FOR HARVESTING 5/27

John 6:37

"All that the Father gives Me shall come to Me;
and the one who comes to Me
I will certainly not cast out."

It is always humbling to remind ourselves of
God's involvement in our responding to His call.
"All that the Father gives to Me."
It is always God who is the initiator.
This thought alone should fill our hearts with joy.
God lovingly pursues us right from the beginning.
He never forsakes us or leaves us
until ultimately we offer ourselves to Him.

We now read a statement of fact.
There is no question about it:
"All...shall come to Me."
Because we have said yes
then we get a free passage into Jesus' kingdom.
Answering God's call means that
at the same time we are saying yes to Jesus.
The Father and the Son are one.
Here is a second reason for our rejoicing.

But even so, we must still make our personal commitment to Jesus Himself.
"and the one who comes to Me,"
Not everyone responds to the call of God.

Having answered the Father's call
we have the final promise
"I will certainly not cast out."
This becomes for us, the Christ-ones,
our firm basis for rejoicing.
